今週からやっと一年生の給食が始まった。月曜日の給食はカレーで、長女も次女も美味しく食べられたようだ。今週は2人とも元気に学校に通ってくれた。登校班での姉妹ケンカもなく安心した。長女の忘れ物が多すぎることが少々心配だけど。
大学は普通通りの一週間だけど、やはり会議が多い。会議で時間が溶けていくので、帰宅後に夕食とお風呂を終えて、寝るまでの時間も働いている。やっと仕事時間を確保したと思ってパソコンに向かっていると、次女に「遅くまで仕事をしないで」と注意された。帰国してから、いろんな調整役を頼まれている。しかし昨年度に決まったことは知らないので戸惑うことが多い。たくさんの人と話して何が決まっていてこれから何を決めるべきなのかを確認した。とにかく大変なのだけど、健康第一で頑張ろう。
金曜日は学会発表用のフルペーパーの締切だった。だから今週は隙間時間に執筆を進めた。ジュネーヴにいた時から執筆をしてきたので、なんとか間に合わせることができた。最後の分析や議論の部分は金曜日に仕上げた。本当は推敲する時間がもっと欲しかったけど仕方ない。
今週は学会の仕事もあった。とにかくいろんな種類の仕事があってどれも複雑なので大変だ。効率的に働いて、できるだけ研究のための時間を作り出していくことが課題だ。
School lunches for first graders finally started this week. Monday’s lunch was curry, and my daughters seemed to enjoy it. Both of them went to school cheerfully this week. I was relieved that they didn’t fight within their school group. I’m a little worried because my eldest daughter keeps forgetting things, though.
Things are as usual at university, but I’m overwhelmed by the number of meetings. Attending these meetings leaves me with little time to prepare lectures or write papers, so my usual routine is to finish dinner, take a bath, and then work at home before going to bed. Just when I thought I had finally secured some work time and sat down at my computer, my second daughter told me not to work so late. I’ve been asked to make many adjustments, including those related to the new curriculum starting next year, but I’m often confused because I don’t fully understand what was decided last year. I’ve been talking to a lot of people to confirm what has been decided and what still needs to be decided. It’s really tough, but I’ll do my best while prioritizing my health.
Friday was the deadline for submitting my full paper for a conference presentation. I worked on it during breaks between meetings and lectures. I had been writing it since I was in Geneva, so I managed to finish it in time. On Friday, I completed the final parts of the analysis and discussion. I would have liked to have more time to revise it, but there was no choice. I plan to continue working on this paper.
This week, I also had to perform administrative tasks for an academic organization. There are a variety of tasks, and all of them are very complex, which poses a major challenge. I must work efficiently so that I can devote as much time as possible to my research.
